Blog post 1
Intro
This blog is written by an information processing student. I have a Bachelor of Science in
Biochemistry, and university life is already familiar to me. I switched to information
processing after losing interest in biochemistry and seeing limited job opportunities in the
field. Friends who were studying or had graduated in information processing recommended it
to me. I've always been passionate about computers, especially video gaming, so it felt like a
natural choice. After completing the first half of a semester, I feel like I'm in the right field but
time will tell for sure.
Blogging
I've never blogged before, nor have I really read personal blogs. However, I do enjoy reading
blog posts about new technology and product reviews for example, this one about the best
gaming graphics cards in 2025 https://bittiblogi.fi/paras-naytonohjain-pelaamiseen-vuonna-
2025/. I'm not sure if that really counts as a blog, though it doesn't feel like one to me. For me,
blogging will probably be similar to writing a diary, which is also something I've never done.
The closest I've come to it is making occasional notes on my phone, but even that is rare. I
expect my blog to have a diary-like feel, though that might change as I go through future
assignments. If I had to guess, blogging might turn out to be a kind of mind therapy for me.
English learning goals
In the long run, I want to learn every English word and speak fluently by the time I'm 85. For
this course, my goal is to learn a few new expressions each week. My reading and writing
skills are already decent, but having long conversations without hesitation is challenging.
Most of my difficulties come from not being able to recall the right English word when I'm
thinking in Finnish. English classes have always been my favourite, partly because I've found
them so easy. Learning English feels almost effortless since it's everywhere on my phone, PC,
with friends, in TV series, movies, and games. From the moment I wake up and open my eyes,
I'm surrounded by it. On top of that, there's a certain pressure to learn English. If you don’t,
you're at a serious disadvantage in life. English is essential for jobs, travel, and the internet.
It's needed everywhere.
Finally, I want to share my experiences with speaking English. I worked as an instructor at an
adventure park, where I had to give climbing safety instructions in English. I also play video
games with friends who are native English speakers, which helps me improve my grammar a
lot.
Hi, very interesting post. It’s really nice to hear that people who graduated in the field actually recommend it, it gives me a slight confidence boost. I also find the part about learning English relatable. It’s literally everywhere and I can’t imagine not being able to use it.
